The molecular phylogenetic reconstruction of the Duttaphrynus melanostictus complex on 16S rRNA (A) sensu terminology of Bisht et al. (2021) and tRNAGly–ND3 (C) sensu Vences et al. (2017) together with median-joining networks (B, D) calculated from clades that include sequences of the “hazarensis” toads from Pakistan, now D. bengalensis comb. nov. (Daudin, 1802). The numbers on branches represent Bayesian Posterior Probabilities/bootstraps showing branch support. Sequence details are presented in Suppl. material 1: Table S1. The same colors of clades used for particular mtDNA trees reflect clade affiliation. The pictured individual represents a population from Shahdara, Margalla Hills, Islamabad, Pakistan.
