The European medicinal leech Hirudo medicinalis L.: Morphology and occurrence of an endangered species


	Two adult, free-living H. medicinalis in the process of sucking blood from an edible frog (Rana esculenta L.). The amphibians usually survive these attacks (adapted from Manzke and Winkler 2012).
